Vilamoura
The “Village of the Moors” is one of the most beautiful seaside resorts in the Algarve. Nothing is left to chance in this small town. The marina has become the centre of the elite. Along the harbour promenade, there are luxury hotels, restaurants, pubs, night clubs and boutiques for every taste. Vilamoura is a destination dedicated to sport and play. Adjacent is the Vilamoura Tennis & Padel Academy, which is home to nine hard courts and five padel courts. There is also an international school. The marina is within walking distance to the splendid Praia da Falésia beach.
Tavira - East Algarve
Surrounded by long beaches separated by an arm of the estuary of the Ria Formosa, Tavira is one of the most charming cities in the Algarve, with its unique architecture. It has a pleasant mix of elegant buildings, cobbled streets and squares that maintain the atmosphere of a traditional Algarve fishing village, The city’s buildings display widely the characteristic pyramidal roofs of Tavira. The river Gilão, which runs along the city centre, is crossed by an old bridge, allegedly of Roman origin.
Just outside Tavira, you find the salt flats that constitute a remote tradition of the area and the Ria Formosa estuary – a vast network of canals, marshes and sandbanks that house numerous species of migratory birds. There are two sand beaches, separated by canals and accessible by boat, form two islands composed of long stretches of dunes. Golfers can enjoy various excellent golf courses located in the East of the Algarve: Benamor Golf is just outside Tavira, while the Quinta de Cima, Quinta da Ria and the exclusive Monte Rei Golf & Country Club courses are further to the East.
Lagos - West Algarve
Lagos has maintained its traditional characteristics while becoming a cosmopolitan holiday destination.
Historically, the fascination of Lagos has always been associated with its geographical position, opposite the African coast. The Bensafrim estuary has drawn foreign settlers and invaders and has become a focal point for voyages of discovery in the golden age of the Portuguese Discoveries. Infante D. Henrique brought fame to this region, founding his navigation school in neighbouring Sagres, having resided in Lagos and built there his famous caravels.
Today, the attractiveness of Lagos lies in the abundance and beauty of its beaches. Whether long stretches of sand dunes, such as Meia Praia, or smaller, sheltered beaches, such as Praia da Boneca or Praia Dona Ana. Water sports, scuba diving and golf are attracting active tourism. Palmarés Golf is situated to the east of Lagos, on the hills overlooking Meia Praia, and Boavista Golf Resort is situated to the west, on the coast leading to Praia da Luz.
